Motion capture data

As part of our series of accuracy studies into the Kinect (Kinect Project report) we have created a data set of motion capture files of participants performing different movements. There are two different sets of data. Biovision (bvh) files created using IPI soft tracking algorithms and a proprietary comma separated values (csv) files created using NITE tracking algorithms. The following movements were recorded:

  • Cup to mouth
  • Elbow flexion away from body towards camera
  • Elbow flexion perpendicular to depth plane of camera
  • Hip abduction
  • Hip longitudinal rotation
  • Jump from crouched position
  • Leg Raise
  • Pronation of lower arm
  • Shoulder abduction
  • Shoulder flexion
  • Shoulder longitudinal rotation
  • Star Jump
  • Throw
  • Static t position
  • walk on spot

Each dataset can be downloaded as single zip files using the forms below. Data is ordered with regards to participant (1 – 10) and a text file briefly describes the format of each file and the naming convention with regards to the movements performed.
